Happy Halloween to all of my millennial comrades! And what an exciting October it has already been. As you scroll through Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, or anywhere else you may roam on the world wide web, you are bound to come across all the spooky season nostalgia. This year it has been in full force, whether it's popular Halloween sound clips on Tik-Tok, or the excitement of buying home decor (shout out to Big Lots and Homegoods). Perhaps, the most notable and important of the Spooky Season buzz comes in the form of a sequel to a beloved and classic Disney movie (not talking about you, Under Wraps remake), the return of a McDonalds treasure, and another drop from McDonalds to make us feel like kids again.
That's right folks you heard it here first... or realized it on your own several days ago.. Nonetheless, it is officially Millennial Halloween! Gone are the exciting days of picking out a costume from the Party World walls, and the opportunity to wear them to class if the holiday landed on a weekday. Don't get me wrong, being able to share our Spooky Season excitement on different platforms with people all over the world is still satisfying, albeit not as rewarding as it once was. With that being said, let's get into the fun and nostalgic details of Millennial Halloween 2022.
First of all, I'm sure you have all heard and (hopefully) had the opportunity to watch Hocus Pocus 2, the 29 year follow up to the 1993 original film. TWENTY-NINE YEARS!! That's insane! Who would have even believed we would even get this? Regardless of good, bad, or mediocre reviews, I think we can all agree that it is a real treat to see Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker reprise their roles as the Sanderson Sisters. You guys... Even Doug Jones, the creature king himself, returns as Billy Butcherson. How cool is that? If there are any Halloween treats to be had early this month, it is a night of Hocus Pocus double features.

Alright, so let's jump into the McDonalds of it all! Earlier this month, news came out about a new meal called the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box. The name comes from the popular streetwear brand which came to life in 2015, and was made popular by none other than Pharrell 'Skateboard P' Williams, himself. The box is by all definitions an Adult Happy Meal, and of course includes a very nostalgic line-up of toys, including Grimace and Hamburglar. In true McDonalds collab fashion, the boxes quickly sold out at many locations, after customers were reportedly ordering massive quantities of the meals at one time. I mean what could be better than the Golden Arches finally giving us a meal like this? Oh wait, there is something better! That, my friends, would be the return of the Halloween McBuckets!! If you reach back, into the far recesses of your childhood, you may recall McBoo, McWitch, and McGhost. These were an ongoing Halloween tradition starting in the late 80s and making appearances on and off until 2016. Sadly, they will not be the version with the cookie cutter lid, but they will be the faces that we all knew and loved. These bad boys are going to make their comeback to McDonalds on October 18th, and again I suspect they'll probably sell out fairly quickly. If you plan on going and getting in on this next exciting drop, just please remember to be kind and considerate to your local restaurant workers.

With that all being said, dear millennial, go forth and get yourself some Halloween-time joy and partake in the sentimentality that has risen from the grave this season. If you have a family of your own, this is a perfect opportunity to share with them some of your childhood experiences. And if you don't, then treat yourself in the way that would make 'kid-you' proud.
